Austin, TX
Mount Bonnell at Covert Park
- Getting in
- Booking window is narrow at both ends: "$50 per 2 hour session - book online 4 days or up to 30 days prior. Sessions NOT permitted during special events or holidays." Austin also lists Mt. Bonnell among the parks "which experience high volumes of public use" — the permit is a queue for a busy overlook, not a private booking. If a paid photographer is involved, note Austin's separate commercial-activity rule and its teeth: "COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY means to advertise or provide a good, service, class, or instructional activity for compensation. ... Fines: $100-$500 fine, $250 minimum fine during a special event, Class C Misdemeanor." (all https://www.austintexas.gov/parks/special-events-policies-and-procedures). Note the city's own page spells the park "Cover Park" — the site is Covert Park.

We can name this spot, but we can’t yet fill the days around it in Austin — not enough real places to build the rest of the trip without repeating. Build one somewhere we can, or keep this spot in mind for when we get there.
