Denver, CO
Dream Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park
Bear Lake Parking fills early in the day year-round. The parking area is often full by 9 a.m each day.
- Getting in
- No photo permit is needed, but you cannot drive to the trailhead without a separate reservation in season: "Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road Reservations are needed to enter the Bear Lake Road Corridor between the hours of 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily beginning on Friday, May 22 through Sunday, October 18, 2026." They are not first-choice-of-date guaranteed — "Timed entry reservations are released on a first-come, first-served basis on Recreation.gov", with a last-chance batch at "7 p.m. MDT on the night before a desired arrival date" (https://www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/timed-entry-permit-system.htm).
