Duluth, MN
Split Rock Lighthouse State Park — Lake Superior shoreline overlooks
- Getting in
- TWO AUTHORITIES ON ONE SITE — the state park is Minnesota DNR, but the lighthouse compound itself is not: "The lighthouse site is maintained by the Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) and includes the Fog Signal Building, three keeper's houses and the Visitor Center. Tours of the sites are available daily through the summer season for a fee." (https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/split_rock_lighthouse/things_to_do.html). The DNR photography rule above governs the park's shoreline and trails; anything inside the MNHS-run lighthouse site needs to be cleared with MNHS separately. Park hours: "Park hours 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., 365 days a year."

We can name this spot, but we can’t yet fill the days around it in Duluth — not enough real places to build the rest of the trip without repeating. Build one somewhere we can, or keep this spot in mind for when we get there.
