Lake Placid, NY

Whiteface Mountain summit, Veterans' Memorial Highway

When it’s open
A seasonal toll road. It does not open until late spring and closes for the winter; ORDA publishes the year's opening and closing dates, and they move with the snow. Confirm before travelling.
Getting in
The highway starts in Wilmington, about 20 minutes from Lake Placid village. There is a per-vehicle toll plus a charge per additional passenger, and the summit is reached from the parking area either on foot through a rock tunnel and stairway or by the elevator.
