The Tetons from the river side, before anyone is up
Jackson Hole, Wyoming · 4 nights · June–September · up to 6
The Tetons rise straight out of the valley floor with no foothills in front of them, which is why every photograph of them looks slightly fake. Four nights is right here because the weather makes its own plans and you want a spare day. Wildlife is a morning activity and rafting is an afternoon one; do not attempt to reverse that. Keep one evening entirely unplanned.
The ending
A bend in the river where beaver ponds hold the range upside down in the water, and the peaks catch first light long before the valley does.
That is Schwabacher Landing, Grand Teton National Park. See how private it is and when it’s open, or build the rest of the trip around it.

Sunrise or sunset here?
Sunrise. The range faces east, so the peaks light up first and the reflection in the still water is the whole reason to stand there.
Is the road always open?
No — the inner park road closes seasonally and access varies. We flag the closure on the spot page before you plan around it.
