Shut in March

  • Craggy Gardens, Blue Ridge Parkway MP 364 — Seasonal closure: December–March. The Parkway gates this section for ice and snow through the winter — the National Park Service posts closures in real time rather than to a calendar, and MP 364 at around 5,500 feet is among the most frequently shut stretches.   • Lake Michigan Overlook, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore — The driving approach closes for roughly half the year: "The Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is open to vehicles seasonally. Generally: late May until late October. During the winter and spring, the drive is open for hiking and walk-in recreation during the vehicle closure."   • Bridal Veil Falls & the Telluride box canyon — Seasonal closure: December 1 - April 30.
  • Sterling Pond, Smugglers' Notch — Smugglers' Notch State Park Season: "Third weekend in May through the second Monday in October." — https://vtstateparks.com/smugglers.html (the VT-108 road through the notch is not maintained for through traffic in winter)
  • Mount Greylock summit — "Auto Roads to the summit open for the season May 16 through October 30, 2026" — https://www.mass.gov/locations/mount-greylock-state-reservation (outside that window the summit is reachable only on foot or by snowmobile)
